2023-2024 | Season 4
Event #1 | Phlox Saxophone Quartet
3pm, Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 | The Capital Chamber Music Society is delighted to invite you to a French Apres-midi with the classical saxophone quartet Phlox in an afternoon of wonderful French music directly from the streets of Paris! Join us for music, wine and the unique musical experience of chamber music at the Capital Chamber Music Society.
With a name based on one of Michigan’s most beautiful native wildflowers, Phlox is interested in bringing beauty to the world through chamber music. Formed in the Summer of 2023, Phlox has been active in the performance and world premieres of new works for saxophone quartet. This is shown through their work with student composers, premiering works at Lansing’s New Music Forum at the Turner-Dodge House, as well as with the Beal Botanical Gardens at Michigan State University, which commissioned a work for Phlox that expressed the experiences nature can behold.
